When five musicians from all over Germany go through the trouble of traveling to Kassel for spending an entire weekend in a rehearsal room - that's gotta mean something. "Indeed, it does. It's like a Heavy Metal Camp ", assures BLACKSITE drummer Matt. "With this band, you're gonna hear exactly what you need as a listener to get swept away: from a hell of a thundering, haunting melodies, and rolling pounders to quickies - it's all inclusive!"
"That's true." Founders Dutch G. (bass) and Stephan (guitar) agree right away. "With BLACKSITE, we managed to secure the unconsumed essential of Heavy Metal into our time without making it retro. Beginning with songwriting, we already try to achieve a contemporary sound but also to avoid trendorientation. Imposing drive in every speed range, artfully combining toughness with melody, that's what makes BLACKSITE so extraordinary."
Their first live gig only proved that the guys got to have just the right composition. "We had our audience from the beginning of the first chord", reflects singer Tim, who has already fronted many band formations. "We all have made experiences in various bands. At some point you realize that bands like BLACKSITE just don't rehearse in your next-door garage. When it's time and you're ready for a real band, you take the trouble of traveling some distance. But it always pays out!"
The effectiveness of trading band practice once or twice a week after work for a weekend locked in a band room is obvious for guitarist Dirk: "You don't have to worry about anything but music. No work, no family. Just music. Therefore everyone can put in their full effort by being focused. Also, cancellations on short notice due to lack of motivation are simply not accepted. Sure, each one of us could find some band closer to their hometown. But with BLACKSITE all the fun is not only in the music, it's the teamwork as well. We're not only musicians - we're friends!" That's the spirit that makes BLACKSITE so authentic. It's not only about creating tunes but living the music together.
For the music itself.
And for the fans.
